Ganesh Chaturthi, also called Vinayaka Chavithi, is an important festival marking the birth of Lord Ganesha, the God of prosperity and wisdom. He is also referred to as Mangal Murthi, the symbol of prosperity, happiness and welfare. As Lord Ganesha removes all the obstacles and brings in positivity, every auspicious work begins after worshipping Him. Ganesh Chathurthi begins on the fourth day (chaturthi) of the month of Bhadrapada (August–September).
